Local Artists Helping W.Mich Boy with Rare Disease

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A local hip-hop artist is helping a West Michigan boy with a rare disease.

For the 4th year in a row, hip hop artists from around West Michigan will come together for a show that will benefit a local child.

The show is called Project Cypher.

This year all the proceeds will go to help 1-year-old Sebastian Boice, from Battle Creek.

Sebastian suffers from Dandy Walker Syndrome and hydrocephalus.

The organizer of the event tells us his goal is to unify hip hop artists by doing something positive for the community, and shake some of the negative stereotypes surrounding hip hop.

This year's event is at Shakespeare's Lower Level in Kalamazoo on Saturday.
